Meet Our Pastor
Reverend Dawn Marie Helton-Anishinaabeqwa
My name is Reverend Dawn Marie Helton-Anishinaabeqwa. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandmother and preacher. I began ministry as a lay supply pastor serving the Native American Mission located on the Bad River Reservation in Odanah Wisconsin. I advanced to Licensed Local Pastor and then received a call to seminary at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and was ordained an elder in full connection in the United Methodist Church in 2012.
After spending decades serving in hospice care I consider my life as a second career clergy to be a re-creation by the work of the Holy Spirit. My heritage is a blessed blend of Irish and Ojibwe. I am an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa located near Hayward Wisconsin. I have been married to William (Doug) for 42 years. He is retired from a 20 plus year career in the US Navy and Airport Security. I have two daughters Heather (Bakwatchikwe) and Holly (Ogimakwe) as well as four grandchildren Sophia (Mokoamokwe), Abigail (Mokogogiizhikwe), Corbin (Wabizheeshi) and Gavin (Makoons).
Jill Nowlen – Director of Spiritual Formation
Jill is a graduate student from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a degree of Master in Spiritual Formation and Direction with a graduation planned on May 17, 2019. She is pending becoming a Certified Candidate for ordained ministry as a Deacon in the UMC. She is married to Cliff Sanderson who is in HR at Mayville Engineering Company. They moved to Mayville from De Forest, WI in 2014 and they are members of the Mayville UMC. Jill has two adult children – a 26 year old daughter who lives and works in Madison and a 22 year old son who lives and works in NYC. Cliff and Jill have a 2 year old Golden Doodle who serves as a pretend grandchild and is named Norton! They also have a small cabin on the Fox River between Princeton and Montello and enjoy their spare time fishing, walking, bicycling, and sitting around the campfire.
