Meet Our Pastor
Reverend Dawn Marie Helton-Anishinaabeqwa
My name is Reverend Dawn Marie Helton-Anishinaabeqwa. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandmother and preacher. I began ministry as a lay supply pastor serving the Native American Mission located on the Bad River Reservation in Odanah Wisconsin. I advanced to Licensed Local Pastor and then received a call to seminary at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and was ordained an elder in full connection in the United Methodist Church in 2012.
After spending decades serving in hospice care I consider my life as a second career clergy to be a re-creation by the work of the Holy Spirit. My heritage is a blessed blend of Irish and Ojibwe. I am an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa located near Hayward Wisconsin. I have been married to William (Doug) for 42 years. He is retired from a 20 plus year career in the US Navy and Airport Security. I have two daughters Heather (Bakwatchikwe) and Holly (Ogimakwe) as well as four grandchildren Sophia (Mokoamokwe), Abigail (Mokogogiizhikwe), Corbin (Wabizheeshi) and Gavin (Makoons).
