Bill was born in Norfolk, VA, the younger of two children. His father worked for a piano company and his mother taught in a parochial elementary school. After graduating from high school, he moved to Richmond, VA to go to college. Bill met his wife Julie while working in a private psychiatric hospital. He finished his undergraduate degree at Salisbury State University in Salisbury, MD.
While living in Maryland, he started a career of Drug, Alcohol, and Family Counseling. They moved to Wisconsin in 1990 and he worked as a counselor until he was called to ministry in 1999. Bill attended seminary at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2007. He was ordained in 2011. He has served four churches since 1999 as a local pastor until he entered the seminary. He served Wesley UMC in Sheboygan, WI; New Hope UMC in Greenbush, WI; The Springs UMC in Plover, WI; and most recently at Port Edwards UMC in Port Edwards, WI.
His wife Julie is a social worker and owns her own soap making business. They have two grown children. George, who is 31, lives in Sheboygan and is a correctional officer at the Sheboygan County Jail. Kate, their daughter, is 21 and is a senior at UW Eau Claire. She is majoring in Social Work with an Environmental Science minor. She plans to go to graduate school at UW Madison for a Masters in Environmental Service.
Bill enjoys being around all people, but he cherishes his private time to read and relax. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors.
