Loaves & Fishes
Salem serves a meal for the FdL Loaves and Fishes program three to four times a year. The need for a hot, nutritious meal is high in the FdL area. In 2013, we served 1,069 meals of Salisbury steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, bread and pudding in only four serving dates!

We have several great teams in place that prepare for our serving each time.

One team comes to Salem in the afternoon on the serving day to package the bread. Another team of volunteers begin to prepare the meal on site at the Church of Peace and box the carryout
meals for pickup. The sit down meal is then served for those who wish to “eat in.” We are very lucky to have volunteers to pick up the meat, prep food at Salem and volunteers to oversee the many, many onsite workers.

Our Covenant Partner – Paul Webster
Paul’s work as a rural economic development specialist serves the needs of poor, rural peoples in Zambia. Paul promotes programs in education, health, agriculture, evangelism, and church construction. The projects strive to address community social, economic and health problems holistically, thus empowering participants. Born in New Richmond, WI, Paul was a volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps as an agricultural extension worker in Guatemala. He is a graduate of the University of WI-Superior, and has done advanced study towards a Master of Planning degree at the Hubert H. Humphery Institute, University of Minnesota. He was a recipient of the Lillian Druse Mission Scholarship fund for persons seeking higher education in preparation for mission service, administered by the Wisconsin Annual Conference. In 2006, he was ordained a full elder.

Annual Mission Celebration

Each year the Mission Team holds a celebration to highlight the importance of the ministry in mission. A meal is shared followed by a program. Admission, including the meal is free of charge.
