Salem United Methodist Youth
Y-F (Youth Fellowship): 4th-6th Grades
What a fun age
group! They are excited about spending time together and growing as Christians
while they serve in the church and community. The youth and their parents meet
to plan the types of projects or activities they would like to be involved in
during the year. Parents and youth are then asked to be the planners for one of
these activities, always with help from the Youth Coordinator / Volunteer. We
join parents and others in our Salem family to sing Christmas carols at nursing
homes and care centers where our members reside; we have a swim party at one of
the local motels during the winter; make crafts and cards for shut-ins; go
bowling; have game nights at the church; trick or treat for canned goods for the
Food Pantry; and complete our year with a beach party at the lake. Come and
join us! You’ll have a great time.
SUM Youth (Salem United Methodist Youth) 7th-12th Grades
This group enjoys quality time together learning Christian values and sharing their faith and witness. The newly formed Youth Empowerment Team (YET), whose mission is to be “the hands and feet of Christ”, is a group of 12 youth from 7th through 12th grades who meet monthly and focus on the development of Salem Youth ministry. The YET acts as a liaison between the larger SUM Youth group and the church family. SUM Youth meets twice a month with discussions on various planned topics presented by several different adult leaders. This enthusiastic and committed group is involved in Youth CONVO, winter retreats, 30 Hour Famine, youth led worship service, mission trips, and mission outreach to the church family, the community and the world. Several fund raisers are planned each year to support the planned outreach ministry. If you are a 7th-12th grader, please join us! If you are an adult, we need your prayers and support!
Youth Room and Game Room: The youth have painted and furnished a comfortable meeting area adjacent to Fellowship Hall in the church basement. SUM Youth meets in this room as does the high school Sunday School group. The game room is a great place to play a game of foosball, pool, air hockey, or darts. Check out these welcoming and fun spots open to all youth.
